In the city center of Florence there are a few local artisans who will show us a craftsmanship that is slowly getting lost. We can reach them very easily , winding through the narrow streets of medieval Florence.
We will visit a producer of leather objects (mostly pouches). The owner works mostly with his own hands and a few tools that have been passed from generation to generation. Each one of the pieces he creates is unique!
Another one of my favorites is actually a couple who have opened a little laboratory/shop in the city centre where they have revived the old Renaissance tradition of engravings. Before the invention of print engravings where the only way to communicate knowledge. We will arrange a private visit for us, they will explain how an engraving is made, and put an old printer at work!
Another option is that of making marbled-paper, another great Florentine tradition. We would visit the shop of a local artisan, another activity that has passed from generation to generation.
We will choose two of these three options, and fully enjoy our time together !
